Public Retreats

Taking time out of your busy life to care for and nurture your body, mind, and spirit is a profoundly regenerating and rejuvenating spiritual practice.

The magical turning point in the transformation process happens when you stop paying attention to your old world, with all its hectic busyness and clutter, and shift your full attention to how your soul might recreate everything.

The Inn at the Rustic Gate is a sacred place that will nourish your body, mind, and spirit. This fully restored turn-of-the-century farmhouse in rural Michigan is situated amidst 150 acres of trails, rolling farmland, ponds, and wetlands. Innkeepers Marcia, Pat, and Sharon pour their hearts into creating an experience for their guests that is special in every way. Whether it is the plush towels and crisp bed linens, the wholesome, home-cooked meals, the library equipped with all manner of mindful reading material, or the meditation loft that invites peace and tranquility, you are sure to feel deeply cared for.

During your time at the inn you can walk an outdoor labyrinth, watch the abundant variety of birds from a chair on the porch, or commune with nature as you stroll along the numerous well-kept trails. This beautiful sanctuary will leave you feeling as though you can surrender your cares and leave your concerns at the door.

What participants are saying about my retreats:

The retreat content was excellent! Susan provided tools to use instead of trying to fix the group. I feel enlightened!

Susan has a caring spirit and is mindful of what her students need which makes her retreats relaxing, safe, and effective. I find her sessions life changing in a gradual and unjarring way.

The retreat was wonderful! It touched all of my inner thoughts and feelings. I loved the instructions about self-care. This gave me the time I needed to unplug from the world around. This is worth a million!

It's one of the most significant gifts that you can give yourself! I had a huge growth in my understanding of how I stood in the way of loving myself. I found the loving presentations, meditations, sacred space, and the love most helpful.

Because of the retreat I am starting to believe that my true self is a person worthy of love and acceptance. I can take off the mask and be delightful. I loved that while there was a schedule it was flexible and fluid to meet our needs as they arose. I never felt rushed and always felt heard. This is a rare and beautiful gift. Everything was perfect! Such a peaceful and nurturing environment. I feel confident and vulnerable, refreshed and free. Thankful. Very thankful.
